Sometimes, things happen. Things that we don't to happen. Things that we think is bad for us. Sometimes, things that happen, happen out of our control. But sometimes, they happen because of our decisions.
Take for instance, Eve. Because Eve ate the fruit, both her and Adam were banished from the garden of Eden. Consider also, David. God delivered his father, Saul into his hands when Saul was hunting down David. David had the chance to kill Saul. But he chose not to.
In Eve's case, punishment was the result, and in David's case, reward was the result. In these situations, it is clear.
However, sometimes things happen because of our decisions, but we don't know whether they are good or bad. It leaves us confused, not knowing what to do. After awhile, we are driven to the point where we start to feel down and out, thinking the world is going to end. Tears are shed and sometimes, tantrum is thrown.
But firstly, we should remember that things that happen, happen because of our decisions. This is a fact we all have to come to terms with. For instance, you are reading this because you chose to, and not anything else. Now, since things happen because of our decisions, we have to learn to live with it, whether it be good or bad. If it is good, then great! But if not, and it is irreversible, we need to keep in mind that it is NOT the end of the world.
Judas Iscariot, was a negative example of this. When he realized that his betrayal of Jesus was wrong, he went and hanged himself. But Peter, when he realized that he had sinned by denying Jesus three times, he repented, and eventually became a great servant for God! This is the attitude we need to have!! Remember Rom 8:28, that all things will work together for good to those who love God, and to those called according to His purpose. Also, Eph 3:20 - Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, above all that we can ask or think. You see, sometimes we see no way out of our situation, but keep in mind that God has other plans, and He will help us, only if we continue to trust in Him and go to Him for help. James 4:7 tells us that if we draw near to God, He will draw near to us. Prov 3:5,6 says that we should trust in the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. We must NEVER lean on our own understanding, but look to God!
Remember when the people of Moab, Ammon and other with them decided to battle against Jehoshaphat (2 Chro 20)? At that time, it seemed like there was no way out. It was many against 1, and Southern Kingdom was going to fall. But have a look at vs. 12, part of King Jehoshaphat's prayer, which says, "For we have no power against this great multitude, ..., nor do we know what to do, but OUR EYES ARE UPON YOU."
Judah set their eyes upon the Lord for deliverance, and we can read the deliverance of God. Likewise, we should do the same!!
The new year is fast approaching! How much have we trusted in the Lord for the past year? Let us make fulfilling Prov 3:5-6 a part of our resolution for the coming new year.
May the Lord bless us all!
Falcon, OUT~!!
