I: First of all, let's start with Algebra. A strong A-. Happy?
M: Yeah well, I don't think it was a strong A-. I actually couldn't do a lot of the questions so of course I'm not happy. I was expecting worse, but I got away with an A-.
I: There's been speculation that you are thinking of switching your focus from Analysis to Algebra. Can you tell us a bit more on that?
M: Yeah, if you compare the results of Algebra and Analysis, you see that there is a clear distinction. I only took 1 Algebra course so far and I scored higher in it than both my Analysis courses. However, I still enjoy doing Analysis, just... not in such a short period of time. But, we'll wait and see what happens.
I: We've looked at your Analysis result. Satisfied?
M: More relieved actually. Again, I was expecting worse, because there were some questions that were actually very simple but I couldn't do, and then there was that question where I applied Liouville's Theorem wrongly. So yeah, I was expecting something worse, probably a B or B-, but this is fine. I'll take it.
I: So overall, you haven't been really happy with your results?
M: No. Definitely not. We expected so much better, and what we got was very disappointing, considering how hard we worked this time round.
I: So what do you think is the cause of it?
M: I don't know, really. Maybe we're just not good enough.
I: Your CAP hasn't changed. Is 4.25 still possible?
M: I don't know. I think it's still Mathematically achievable, but if it was difficult before, it is even more difficult now.
I: So with this sem's results, how would you approach the following sem?
M: Our target for next sem is simple. Get an A+ and at least B+ for everything.
I: You haven't gotten an A+ before.
M: That's right.
I: Then it won't be easy.
M: Of course. In fact, it's near impossible for us.
I: But it's still your goal for next semester?
M: Yeah.
I: OK. Thank you for your time.
M: Thank you.
