I think that it is good, that despite all the criticisms that they receive every now and then, it's good that at least we write something good about our internal shuttle bus drivers.
I mean, let's face it, without them, we would probably be walking at least 3km to and fro Science and PGP everyday. Otherwise, some crazy public bus company would stamp their transportation monopoly there and start charging people for using it.
This is a post, a tribute to all our bus drivers for the previous academic year.1. Ang Ah TooI remember him as that fat old man with the same name as some lady singer. He's a pretty decent bus driver, very patient with us, and drives well, just like most bus drivers.PY told me once about an incident where he was stopping for some guy to cross the zebra crossing. Then after that, he started cursing to himself about how slow that guy walks. I don't know, I've never seen him do that before, so heh. But I guess I believe her. In some sense. There was also this time on the way back to PGP, the junction after the NUH bus stop is an upwards slope. The traffic light in front was red, so he tried to stop, then accelerate up again so that he does not have to do that balancing act when the light turns green. Unfortunately, he failed. TWICE. And the drivers behind him honked like mad +.+Ah well, I guess everyone makes mistakes every now and then.2. ThiruselvamHe is the only Indian driver I've noticed that drives for NUS. He's quite a good driver as well. The first time I went up his bus, I was thinking to myself, "Oh look, it's a non-Chinese driver. Ooo.." +.+ Heh. But like all those other drivers, he's not with us anymore.3. Yeang Kean BoonThis guy is Teddi's good friend. I remember Sharks told me once that he made a comment about how rude Indonesian Chinese are. Interestingly, Teddi, who is an Indonesian Chinese, was right beside Sharks when he made that comment. Heh.Another incident. He was driving an A2, and reached the Biz bus stop. A group of Indians wanted to get on the bus. A guy asked him how to get to Little India. Then, this guy told him to take the A2. After the guy got off the bus, he closed the door and drove off.I looked at his windscreen to make sure I was in the right bus. IT WAS AN A2!!!!! +.+4. Toh Poh LianThe thing I can remember most about him is NOT about him, but about his bus! +.+ I once saw that he was driving a D bus, and noticed his front left bumper of his bus was smashed. Oo, I wonder what happened. Hehe. That was in the first sem. Of course, in the second sem, he got that thing fixed. Also, remembering all our drivers that have served us so well in the past year:
5. Saifuddin6. Mohd. Atan7. Oh Eng TeckAnd others whose name escapes me! =D
Thank you all for serving us ever so well last term! I remember clearly once as I was getting down an A2 bus at PGP, I thanked the driver, and he reminded me to "hao hao du su ar..." haha! That was so nice of him to make such a remark!!
We have new bus drivers this year. Most of them PRCs. PY pointed out that they are quite reckless. And rightly so. I noticed how hard these drivers this year are on the brakes. During the middle of the semester, you can always see them driving so quickly, then when they have to stop, they punish the brakes so much so that the bus screeches everytime it comes to a standstill!!! ARGH!!!!! And it doesn't help that my room is just above the PGP Foyer. +.+Also, they are less patient. Last time, when you were running for a bus at the PGP Terminal, even if he was about to leave, he will stop for you. Now, heh. Even if you run fast enough to catch it, he'll close the door and signal for you to take the next bus.Well. Hope they get better.
Falcon, OUT!
