The end of the 1st academic year has come for me. This is it, I thought to myself. I have endured the first year here in Singapore... Here's a review as to what has happened throughout this sem...
The new year could not have started worse. The death of Benjamin on the last day of YDP last year darkened things on what would have been a joyous occasion of ushering into the new year. Nevertheless, we thus rejoice that he is now in Paradise, comforted, blessed, and in the presence of God...
Then came the death of Nian Ning, in which, I must say, was a sudden shock to us... of all things to die of, she crashed and died in a bus accident involving some reckless driver with 11 outstanding traffic summons... Now this has surely set the scene - more than 2 deaths (others were not really unexpected, but it still made an impact) just as we started Sem 2 of Year 1, it has brought upon a big change upon me... with the new sem, sets sighted on pushing myself up to the 1st class area, which, on paper, does not look tough at all, and the death of 2 of my friends, 1 closer than the other, being a very very very very very early childhood friend, all but motivated me to push forward...
However, this sem, started off worse than I thought. I was forced to drop LAC1201, dropped MA2214 because of a rubbish lecturer, paid 200+ points to take up LSM1302 to replace MA2214 whilst others used only 1 point, and I ended up with 4 mods for the sem. So the stage was set - 4 modules, lighter workload compared to my coursemates, I needed to push HARD for my grades, and I mean HARD!!!
The first few months was all good, but the midterms of some mods had made me realize that this sem would be more of survival than of achievements... Contrary to people's estimations, having a lighter workload didn't really make much of a difference... At the end of the day, this is what I have to say:
"We have worked hard, and I'm very proud of the team... We did what we needed to do, we tried everything there was to try, and at the end of the day, I am very happy with the team, I'm very happy with the work rate of the team. I think we did a good job, and as to what happens and what results we get, it is out of our hands now... We did our best, and we can only hope for the right result."

... and all those whose names I forgot to mention... You guys (and girls) have helped me out in ways I cannot imagine... and I appreciate that!!!
As I was cleaning through my stuff, I found my book, in which was written my fellow Klang brethren's thoughts and wishes during 31/12 last year, and I must say, some of them brought tears, some memorable laughter...
"You're our ambassador in S'pore. It will be challenging there alone. But rest assured, everyone is proud of you regardless of how much you fart."
