Note: To the first person who solves this math problem sufficiently first, lunch/dinner is on me!!! You have till 6th August!!!

Once, Reed Er was reading a section of a book. Suddenly, his wife, Look Er posed a curious question: If you took all the pages of the book and added them up, what will you get? Reed Er summed it up rather hastily and said, "Err, I'll have to double-check my arithmetic again... it's either 412 or 512..."

Question: Is it 412 or 512??? Explain...
