Ever wondered where certain food/beverages originated from??? Here's something...
1. Tea
Once, a Chinese man was boiling water under a tree... Suddenly, when he wasn't looking, some leaves fell into the pot... little did he know that they were tea leaves... Then, he noticed after some time that his water was yellowish... So, he tried drinking the liquid, and suddenly felt more alert! Hence, TEA!!!!
2. Fried rice
Once, a Vietnamese woman was cooking rice... there were no rice cookers then, so she cooked it on a pan... Then, her phone rang, so she left her rice unattended to answer the phone... Then when she got back, her rice was... well, overcooked... She put out the fire and tried eating the rice... not bad... hence, FRIED RICE!!!!
3. Porridge
Once, a Thai chef in a restaurant received this order from the king to cook rice for him... So, he cooked the rice, kept it in a pot and went on his way to deliver his rice to the king... It was a pretty long journey, so the rice would get really dry, and the king doesn't like food that is too dry, so he would add a little water periodically... when he arrived the king's place, he decided to add a little bit more water just to make sure it wasn't too dry... but he lost control of his water container and spilled a huge amount of water into the rice, quickly, he tried to rectify the situation by setting up fire by the side and boiling it to evaporate the excess water...
Unfortunately, the king came out to greet him, so he had to stop... so the king took the "watery rice" and took a mouth... hmmm, not bad... Hence, PORRIDGE!!!!
4. Coffee
Once, an Indian man was cleaning his water... one of the steps is to filter it... He took these rocks from this place, not knowing they were coffee beans... He ran the water through them, causing the water to turn black... He started to get curious because normal rocks don't do that to water, so he took a sip of it... hmmm, bitter, but nothing a little sugar couldn't fix... Hence, COFFEE!!!!
5. Shark's fin
Once, a diver wanted to catch a shark to see if it was edible... while he was in the ocean, he didn't notice a shark was swimming towards him from behind... When he found out, he panicked and tried to fend off the shark (last time, they didn't know that sharks don't attack humans)... his weapons managed to rip the fin off the shark and the shark swam away for its life... The diver cooked the shark fin and ate... hmmm, not bad... Hence, SHARK'S FIN!!!!
Oh yeah, did I tell you, the above stories were actually made up... but the one and only ME!!!!
