If you have a parent who has thalassemia, then you would probably be a carrier or have thalassemia yourself... hmmm... I wonder if there are other cures for genetic health problems besides genetic engineering... I certainly wouldn't want myself coming out the operating theatre a potato now would I??? lol!!!
Hey, I just thought of something... there are 25.6 million Malaysians as of 2005, 45,000 of them are prisoners...so, assuming all prisoners are liars, no more, no less, we have probability of a dishonest person, P(D) = 0.0017578...
There are 6 billion people in the world... and so, based on the Malaysian sample, we will estimate the number of honest people in the world... So, P(H) = 1-0.0017578 = 0.9982421
Therefore, H = 6,000,000,000 x 0.9982421 = 5,989452600 = 99.82%
So, 99.82% of the world's population are generally honest people... Sorta gives people hope, doesnt it??? But then again, don't rejoice too early... coz: 1. I'm just using Malaysia as a sample, which is rather small considering its population... 2. The assumption is that only all prisoners are dishonest, but we know for a fact that there are others who are wonderful liars... 3. There's not exactly 6 billion people in the world... 4. There are new births and deaths every second...
But still, this is an indicator... so it is a good start...
