For so long I've heard people saying over and over again, "Religion and God is all about believe. If you believe, then you believe, if not, then, that's fine. It's a question of faith."
Well, guess what? Disagreed!
Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen... Based on this definition of faith, it means that we hope for things and know that things are true even though they cannot be seen based on evidences... Take air for instance... we can't see air, but we know it's there, because of the evidence of it. We have faith that air exists due to its effects... like wind...
Likewise, evidence that God exists is so clear and obvious that the Bible says "...they are without excuse..." (Rom 1:18ff)
Still, nowadays, it's not about proving God exists anymore, but more of negating arguments that disprove the existence of God... Well, here's what I'll do: I'll talk about why I believe, and then talk about why people don't believe in the next post... savvy??? Yay! Let's go!
1. Cosmological argument - Ok, 1st of all, this is no intellectual webby, so I'll just mention things that are convincing enough... Anyways... this arguement is based on the scientific law of Causation aka Cause and Effect... according to this law, there cannot be an effect without a cause... this is applied to explain the existence of things... for example, there cannot be a house, unless someone built it... there cannot be a watch, unless someone thought of it, gathered the proper materials, put it in order, and then there is a watch... There's no such thing as "poof!" here's a watch... by accident... bahaha... it makes no sense at all...
Well, what I'm trying to say is... the same law applies to the Earth and the Universe... There cannot be a universe, unless someone thought about it and put it in order in order for it to exist.
And if we do examine the universe, particularly Earth, more closely... we see that it is perfect and has a very orderly design...
- the size of Earth is such that it can have oxygen and nitrogen in its atmosphere... if it was too big, it'll be like Jupiter and Saturn, having hydrogen and helium in its atmosphere, which is totally unsuitable for life...
- the speed of light (2.99---*10^8 m/s) is such that if it's too fast, we'll all be burned up! If it's too slow... it'll be too dark!
- the special property of water which expands below 4 C allow aquatic life underwater to continue living though the top layer of the seas, lakes and whatevers are frozen...
The stuff here only prove one thing - someone created the universe and everything in it... who is it??? God!!!
2. The Teleological Argument - Moving on, this is talking about the intelligent design of the world... because we see that there is a creator who created Earth, then according to point no.1, it must have a suitable design... consider the following:
-Design of the Human Body: DNA! deoxyrhibinucleic acid - a combo of many many amino acids to create some information for the being... any different in its arrangements, it's a different thing... it's like Dr. House said: "If we had an extra allel, we would be a potato!" Haha!!!
-The structure of the human body - Same cells form tissues, different tissues form organs... and various organs work together in a system which helps support the human itself... based on my understanding of a number of systems, I can safely say that all of them seem so perfect that any malfunction in one organ and the whole thing goes haywire... causing a person to be sick!!! Surely mere chance could not have created this wonderfull perfect system!!!
All this leaves us with one explanation: God created the Earth and is intelligent enough to perfect it!
Ps 19:1 - The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork
3. The moral argument - The inherent sense of right and wrong in a person cannot be biologically explained... it's just full of wonder! No one knows where this sense came from... Words like love and sacrifice appear in our dictionary... how can we say we're a product of evolution? Surely not! Someone would've thought to plant this moral sense inside us... that person is God!
Phew... so much to write... I think I'd stop here... but be forewarned... I'LL BE BACK! BAHAHA!!!
