"Sean, SOS my pc got prob kenot open d programe..its crash wit d other filename leh..2mr i got test..can u cum2my place n help me a while right after ur church?"
This was the msg I received during Bible Class on Wed night. Of course, being the kind person that I was, I consented. I replied and asked what kind of problem is that, I didn't really understand.
And after she explained, I still couldn't understand. I wondered if the whole thing was just a plot to spring a surprise on me for my birthday. With that in mind, I decided not to push it. She might breakdown and reveal everything, and I didn't want to spoil the fun for her and probably, CHK and Likiliki.
I dropped off at the bus stop just outside the PGP backgate off the number 30 bus that night. I msged PH saying that I've reached. Then we agreed to meet at the R5 entrance so that she could bring me up.
As I was walking, I wondered how they were going to do it. They could wait for me at the entrance with the cake in hand, all ready. Or they could hide in PH's cluster and wait for her to bring me there. OR, they could hide in PH's room and wait for her to bring me there. Thoughts and guesses were racing through my mind. Of course, I told myself I must not look as if I'm expecting something. I MUST remain calm. As if I AM really going to help her with her laptop. Of course, it could be that she really is in trouble and needed my help.
But then again, she would have said that Likiliki didn't reply even after 1 hr. He's not that type of guy. Hmmm.
I met her at the R5 entrance. The way she behaved, it was as if she was about to cry. Then, I thought maybe it was the real thing. Nevertheless, I chose to sweep all of it out of my mind as we travelled up the lift up to her floor. She led me through her cluster door, past the cluster toilet, and past the cluster kitchen, all the way to her room. When we arrived, she opened her door. No one inside, I thought. She turned on the com. We chatted awhile while waiting for it to warm up and totally load.
Later, she was doing as if the internet connection wasn't working, I couldn't tell whether it was real or not...
Suddenly. Came a knock on the door.
"RA ROOM CHECK!" the voice boomed.
Surprised, shocked, terrified, I hid behind the door. Then she opened the door and signalled for me to come see. Well what d'ya know? 4 people stood at the door. Stan, HK, Teriyaki and Vietnamese Nic.
Now that's what I call a birthday surprise.
